Part one: Wow! I can't believe its New Years Eve already! We have had such a busy time lately the days, weeks, and months have just flown by. We are planning on spending the night at home probably. We may go and watch the early fireworks but not sure yet. Its raining outside so we will probably just stay home and hang out with family!
I have been meaning to post more this week but not enough hours in the day. I thought I'd just do one of those catchup posts instead so you know we are still alive!
Christmas Day was NOT ALL about Xmas around here. Ninjaboy also celebrated his 21st Birthday! Its really not a great day to have your birthday as you have to share it with Xmas but he did get extra presents and a Pokeball cake compliments of the Book Fairy. He spent the day running between all his families for visits. (Yes! We are like his third family...but Oh how we love him! He is ours really! Yes he is...they will just have to fight for him!)
Boxing Day, we spent at my Mums house. My sister spent xmas afternoon driving all day and night to get here. (She lives in Melbourne and its about a 13 hour drive up to our house). So we had Xmas dinner again on boxing day! Yum!!!!
The day after that it was raining so we all hung out at my place and played some board games. We played Pictionary and Scattergories. There was lots of laughter and by the afternoon, the boys decided they would go out and give fishing a try. Us girls decided we were tired and opted for a rest. Everyone ended up going home except for SIL and we ended up going to join the fishing crew down at the Entrance. The Entrance is about a 20 minute drive south of our house and is where our local lakes meet the ocean. Its a very popular tourist destination, especially at this time of the year.
Gameboy and Zak both caught a fish on their first cast and then were pretty much over it! You see there was an amazing skate park right behind where they were fishing so of course Dad had to go home and get the scooters so they could try it out. What resulted was that Zaks scooter was too big and he had to have a new one. It started raining, we got wet! It was all fun till SIL fell down! :-O SIL is only like 7 1/2 months pregnant so of course we were rather concerned. A trip to the hospital and they think a sprained ankle is all but my it is still so swollen after two days!
Next day we of course went shopping for that new "Razor Pro scooter". Of course None of the other Razor scooters (which were drastically reduced after xmas) were suitable. It just had to be "that one" and yes we found it and the boy is satisfied.
The following day we opted for a bbq at home, all the family came round and we ate so much that Karisma fell asleep. She is most sorry! Although sure the family understand...they live with her lot too! :-)
Part two: Well everyone ended up going to the Entrance to see the fireworks, unfortunately Karisma and kids could not make it! (I know sue us..but SB and Karisma decided to sneak out for a quick beach trip! There had been NO surf all week and all was quiet so K thought she would pack a book and SB packed his surfboard..we went for a lovely walk (ALL ALONE) and then SB had a surf while K enjoyed her book...well right up until some tourists and their kids decided to play right on top of her head but hey K likes kids so giggled at their antics..not everyone lives near the beach you know so she quite enjoys the wonder and excitement of the little ones as they discover new things! ;-) Anywho, while they were off being selfish and norty, the rellos rang with the decision to hit the fireworks, they of course had no chance of making it!) TBF was at work and needed collecting at 8pm. CG came home but was awaiting Ninjaboys arrival at 10pm. She opted afterall to go to a party for a little while and he will collect her and bring her home on the way back. TC has three of her friends over to party so the mama is supervising a party for 17 year olds! She is happy to do so as they are a great bunch of kids and hey! She knows they are safe and having fun right here under her nose! The noise is deafening, the lights keep going on and off! The glo sticks are a glowing (Zak is loving this and joining in the fun...mama thinks Gameboy is hiding behind his computer...must go check..hehe!) Now finally all are accounted for! Karisma plans to have some wine, hit the spa and welcome in the new year with a smile!
Here's hoping you all have a wonderful evening, a prosperous new year and of course....peace and happiness all round! Hugs and smoochies my lovely friends...may your new year be full of happiness and LOVE....mwah xoxoxoxo
PS...Okay this is like the fifth time I have been interuppted today trying to post this so I give up! You will just have to wait for those pictures I planned on sharing! Gotta love my babies! They like to butt in and have their say! Turns out right now at like 9.19 Pm my kids are dancing and the mama MUST join them! Hiding in ones room is NOT acceptable! (Hey super nanny! How does one deal with that hey?)
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! ENJOY YOUR NIGHT/DAY/MORNING where-ever you are on this earth right now!
BIG BIG HUGS AND SMOOCHIES my loves! May your lives be filled with happiness, love and peace this year! And may all your "real" dreams come true! mwah xoxoxoxo
Love to all, xoxoxox

A little Aussie Humour........
An Aussie truckie walks into an outback cafe' with a full-grown emu behind him. The waitress asks them for their orders.
The truckie says, 'A hamburger, chips and a coke,' and turns to the emu, 'What's yours?' 'I'll have the same,' says the emu.
A short time later the waitress returns with the order 'That will be $9.40 please,' and he reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change for payment..
The next day, the man and the emu come again and he says,
'A hamburger, chips and a coke.' The emu says, 'I'll have the same.'
Again the truckie reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.
This becomes routine until the two enter again. 'The usual?' asks the waitress.
'No, it's Friday night, so I'll have a steak, baked potato and a salad,' says the man. 'Same,' says the emu.
Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, 'That will be $32.62.'
Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table.
The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. 'Excuse me, mate, how do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?'
'Well, love' says the truckie, 'a few years ago, I was cleaning out the back shed, and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there.'
'That's brilliant!' says the waitress. 'Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!'
'That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there,' says the man. The waitress asks, 'What's with the bloody emu?'
The truckie sighs, pauses, and answers, 'My second wish was for a tall bird with a big ar$e and long legs, who agrees with everything I say.'

Hip Hip Hooray! I finished all my shopping today! (Even the food shopping!!!) Tomorrow will see me cooking, cleaning and wrapping presents all day. But in honour of getting it finished with a day to spare, considering I started so late, I treated myself to a nice afternoon floating in the ocean and am planning on sitting in the spa with a nice glass of wine for a little quiet time before bed. Have a great night all. Hugs and Smoochies xoxoxoxoxx

Mr Yakka! Step away from the bear.......
NO, he did not choke you Pirst (first). He just gave you a kiss.........

Well, there are only 3 sleeps till xmas and I still am not organized. What a surprise! LOL! Yes I get worse with age. No organization skills what so ever! I need to buy a few presents and do the food shopping and some cooking before Thursday so we will see how that goes.
Please forgive me for once again being a slack blog buddy. I simply have not had the energy this week (as most of you have probably noticed), to even come visiting let alone post anything. So I thought I'd do a quick catch up post.

Please forgive me for once again being a slack blog buddy. I simply have not had the energy this week (as most of you have probably noticed), to even come visiting let alone post anything. So I thought I'd do a quick catch up post.
- We did not manage to get much xmas cooking done as planned. We were out too much.
- Same thing for craft..no time and then everyone got sick, so we could not be bothered.
- We did make some snowmen.......
- I did manage to learn to use the embroidery machine to write names (Thanks for teaching me Aunty M. My friend was very impressed and happy with our efforts!)
- I did fit in a little knitting (but only a sleeve..sick kids + not much sleep = no energy!)
- I managed to visit the beach about twice all week. Once taking Mr Yakka along for a big play...apparently he slept 13 hours that night! Wow! He is still a bit scared of the water but loves the edge and the sand!
- My little mate (who I have been minding on Wednesdays all year who is actually Mr Yakka's uncle) had his last day of the year with us! He is off to BIG school next year :-( (We had a lovely day together. I also took him to the beach and he had lots of fun painting his and my feet to make angels and reindeer paintings. He decided his feet worked better as mine had an arch in them and did not make for a good reindeer face. )
- We MISSED out on our Dolphin cruise AGAIN (That day TC and GB were sick and the 2 hour drive did not look good, it was also raining and we did not want to risk more sickness or pass on any germs! As it turns out, the germs were passed on inhouse, so a wise move.)
- We took them to see AVATAR at the movies as a back up plan and we all LOVED it! (It has rekindled my urge to get my hair braided again!!!)
- Zak had a great time yesterday playing with a new friend all day, which made up for his boring week of illness and missing out on going on his dolphin cruise or to the xmas carols that he was looking so forward to).
- I tried to find my house under all the mess, but the norty faeries have been following me around helping! My bookcases and table seem to have made room for not only the ping pong table and the xmas tree but several surfboards, a body board, some trikes and a wet suit (BOYS!!!!!)
- I am totally missing ALL my friends who probably think I've gone bush or something (I do keep threatening to do so LOL) I did manage to catch up with one friend yesterday but have not seen anyone other than family for weeks.
- So there you have it! I'm still alive! Refusing to stress over Xmas at all and hoping to see you all soon! If I don't manage to get back....Have a wonderful, safe and joyous holiday season. Keep well.

Hormone Horrors!
Someone once mentioned in passing that they thought I was the "perfect" boy mama.....this kind of shocked me a little, I have to say. You see, I don't like sports, violence, guns or anything considered boyish "normal" play. Indeed having two little boys, one after another was kind of a BIG shock to my system. Raising three little girls, I took in my stride. Afterall, they listened (most of the time), followed their mama around quietly and responded to her gentle discipline manners without too much fuss. They minded their manners (at least in front of the mama) and life was not too hard.
The boys however came into the world kicking and screaming, on a mission to upset the mamas apple cart and give her a bit of a parenting reality check. They soon turned their mama off girly pursuits like shopping (it was just far too traumatizing for all of us), she learned to look the other way when they climbed trees or swam 3 miles out to sea (you know with the sharks and stuff and the big waves are) and even got used to their regular fisty cuffs (which almost drove her insane).
So apparently all this is normal for growing boys and we learn to live with it. But NOTHING and I stress...NOTHING has prepared me for boy puberty! Geez...they say girls are bad. Sure they had a few bouts of PMS but hey...somebody knew what to look out for and was able to deal with it very easily. One could warn the other girls and they of course would listen and be sympathetic and all would smooth over in a day or so.
Zak on the other hand has no sympathy and indeed prefers to goad his moody brother into action (then come running to us with the "what the hell is wrong with him?" face on). I am trying to be patient, really I am but apart from sudden mood swings, there are often sudden fist swings and I always have a problem with this one. Yesterday I saw a glimpse of my other "sweet" boy beneath the moody mask and thought perhaps it was at an end...no such luck by the evening he had thrown his brother out of his room (this time for no apparent reason) screamed at him and then burst into tears. My heart is breaking for my poor boy but I am not quite sure what to do about it. I am trying very hard to be patient and calm and hopefully he will be through this period of his life very soon. (Then of course it will be Zaks turn...LOL)
So, a spider just dropped into my face to bring me a little message. I am smiling once again. A little spider magic will not go astray today and is most welcome. (I'll just let you wonder what on earth Im on about there! haha!)
Now Im off to my Aunts house to do a little sewing, then babysitting Mr Yakka for a few hours then we are going to the big toy raffles tonight. The boys have been enjoying them the past few weeks and managed to score a few prizes. They are hoping to be lucky again tonight. Hope you all have a lovely day.

A Spot of Fashion!
Monday night SB and myself went to Newcastle to watch Cameragirls very first Fashion Parade. She has just completed her first year of Fashion Design and her class along with those who just finished their diploma's put on a wonderful show. Now as my camera has been playing up, I only took the little one so did not manage to get good pictures. The fellow sitting in front of me kept sticking his elbow up and blocking my view so I got more pictures of his arm than the girls. Hopefully we will be able to get some from the photographers later on.
Cameragirl was very brave. She is not used to being on stage and was pretty scared about walking along the catwalk herself. She pulled it off though and her mum and dad were very very proud of her.
CG was in the Black and white section and a summer selection. She showed her black dress (the one she wore to the wedding the other week and a skirt and top she just finished last week)

It has been a very busy year with lots and lots of sewing achieved. Apart from school and working CG managed to get a few days in at a handmade markets selling her own designs and did really well.
Today is the last day of school for TC for the year as well and this week on Friday we are off to Nelsons Bay for a dolphin cruise with our homeschool group. Heres hoping for some nice weather! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Update: These pics just popped up on facebook! CG is the blonde one on the right wearing her black dress.......

A little Xmas Baking
Yesterday was a busy day at Karisma's house. Among other creative pursuits, there was time for a bit of baking and some decorating. So what did we bake? Xmas cookies of course. Always a good first choice.
So first you discover that mum has pre-prepaired some yummy xmas biscuit mix and left it in the fridge. Don't bother to put your shirt on or brush your hair....No-one is going to see you right? (hehe) Roll out the dough (Don't worry if you can't find the rolling pin, the knife sharpener is nice and round, it will do!). Then cut out your favourite shapes and pop them in the oven for about 10 minutes.
Once they are cooked, call your big sister to make the icing and help you decorate the cookies. TBF if pretty good at this kind of stuff, so its a good idea to choose her first. Just check out the concentration here....
Your other siblings are not to be left out (Well except for TC, she is busy painting in the other room with the little kids) and your uncle joins in too. There is lots of laughter and friendly sqaubbling going on over who is creating the best cookies!
You turn out some pretty creative cookies and eat them as you run out of room on the tray!
When some very loud laughing errupts in the kitchen, Karisma comes to investigate and finds her brother is giving the children a lesson on Santa's anatomy! DARREN!!!!!!
WHAT???? Look at my Santa.. Isn't he creative???? I wrote "toys" on his sack!
NO! TBF's Santa is much nicer thank you!
Not to be left out of the humour dept. Zak's Little Man either thinks his sisters one is very happy camper or maybe he is just "coming out"! Actually, apparently... the word gay, now means "lame". Go figure...no wonder people find it hard to learn to speak English.
So there we have it! Our first day of xmas creations! Well we did some paintings and made some snowmen too but we will save those for tomorrow! Have a great day everyone! Karisma is hoping to go and attack some of that xmas shopping today! Wish her luck! She is going to need it!

Karisma said a rude word!
So there I was feeling pretty pleased with myself on account that I took Sayre's advice to do something radical like clean up or something redo a room or start something new. It was a great day all round. I actually stayed home ALL day! I watched IceAge3 with the kids. We did some painting, made some bouncy snowmen, baked xmas cookies and decorated them, did some gardening and had visitors. Just to name a few things. Once my little mate went home and the coast was clear, I pulled down all the kids artwork and put it away. Moved two bookcases out of the room and cleaned up to make room for the xmas tree and cleaned out under the stairs. Like I said! I was feeling pretty pleased with myself.
So I had dinner cooking and had put some chillie flakes into a container and then turned to wash some dishes. I had one glove on and suddenly sneezed.........then all hell broke loose. Somehow.....God only knows how....but somehow. very hot chillie entered my left eye. The shock was intense..I think I actually held my breath before I clampled my eye shut and turned around bent over and screamed. I hurt REAL BAD! First it felt like someone poked me in the eye, then it started to burn relentlessly. I could not open my eye or take my fist off it.
SB came running and took me to the bathroom in an attempt to wash it out. I was not complying very well. It hurt too much. I have to admit I cried like a baby! The pain was extruciating. I tried to jump in the shower fully clothed with a towel pressed to my face. Then I realised this was silly, then I did not care. I got out of my clothes jumped in the shower, jumped out again. Sat down and balled some more....it would not let up! SB went to get some ice to see if that might soothe it and I kept rocking, and crying ouch ouch till at some point I suddenly just started to get angry. Man! I gave birth FIVE times with absolutely NO painkillers! I could not believe that I was losing it over an eye! I think I actually growled, cried somemore then just screamed "F#*K" (so actually I said it more than once...it bloody hurt) I think it was about this time that SB could not help himself and laughed. The whole time trying not to. My eyes were both red raw and one was swollen half shut! I have to admit I did look kind of funny!
I alternated between tears and him urging me to open my eye and blink it out. Finally I listened and it started to get a little better. I then took a shower, rinsing it properly and while it still hurt it was not as bad. It took a while to stop hurting all together and my legs kind of turned to jelly. I was pretty disgusted with myself by now, so got up and went and finished cooking dinner then of course came to tell you guys all about it!
Now, give me child birth over chillie in the eye anyday! That kind of pain..I can handle!
Hope you all have a wonderful night! Im off to feed my army!

Craft anyone?
So believe it or not, in the craziness of the past few months I did manage to get in just a little crafting time. First off I made this sling for SIL who is expecting baby number 2 in early February. This is my first attempt at following a crochet pattern. I have only ever made squares before and have been trying to teach myself to follow patterns and learn new stitches. Of course this in plain stitch in double crochet but it was challenging in the sense that I had to stitch in rows and increase and decrease at the edges........

It only took me a few weeks on and off and still needs a little flower on the outside. It is made with 100% recycled cotton. I also had a go at making up a little vest which is currently in progress :-) This one, I used no pattern and as you can see I had trouble with decreasing with the half on the left. I did much better with the next side so will have to redo the other side as well. The second one also has button holes down one side though you can't see them in the picture. As it was more of a practice run Im not too worried if I don't get it finished. I have till next winter anyway!

Next on the needles we have a little cardigan for the same bubba......Did we guess that she is a girl yet? I just started this one a couple of days ago and am really enjoying the fact that the pattern is so easy and its knitting up nicely and quickly! (Unlike my first choice of pattern which would just NOT work...gotta hate those typo patterns...very frustrating!) This pattern I picked up in an opshop the other day for 50c and the book has lots of nice little patterns in it. I love the fact that several are in 8ply wool which is much quicker to knit up than the old 4ply.

This wool is one I picked up a few years back before Mr Yakka and Jazzy were born. I made both of them jumpers in the same wool. Well Mr Yakkas was blue/green/yellow shades but it is just so soft and is an 8ply baby wool which is rare to find. I can't remember the name of it as I am knitting with the left overs now and don't have the labels.

Finally, a little update on my latest cross stitch project. I have been aiming to do a little each day but cannot always find the time. I like to cross stitch when its quiet or when the kids are watching a movie as I find myself tuning out. Its a bit like meditation to me, quiet thinking ......one stitch at a time.

Oh and thats right! I am supposed to be doing xmas craft with the kids right now! Look Look, I did get the books out but the kids decided to make some music first instead and who am I to stand in the way of all that natural learning hey? Maybe I should just do craft by myself?

I NEEEEEDDDDD this book! Really I do! I borrowed it from the library last week and it is just full of easy, practical and very very sweet baby clothes to knit. I lurve it to bits! I think I shall buy it for myself for xmas! hehe~!Oh and thats right! I am supposed to be doing xmas craft with the kids right now! Silly Me!
I have now been to the shops twice to attempt a bit of Xmas shopping. Now this is an effort in itself, I do not like shopping at all. Just ask the girls. They much prefer to leave me at home. So the first trip, we drove the hour to the shops (our local centre is a bit small and I don't like it at all), dropped the boys into ice skating and attempted to find some things for each child.
We managed to find instead a clearance book sale (hey, I told you I had a problem with this!). I came out with half a dozen books for myself and SB. Two books for the boys, which I gave them straight away and a set of affirmation cards. Now while I scored some rather good bargains, I did not score anything for under the xmas tree. Oh hang on, we did find a gadget shop which I at first refused to enter and then upon entering did buy a few scientific type sets for the boys which I suppose I could put under the tree but they probably won't be too enthused as they see stuff like that as "schooly".
Fast forward a few days and we went back again. This time with TC who wanted a pair of swimmers for xmas that she seen last time she was there. We did buy those swimmers and she got to keep them straight away. (See we are not very good at this whole xmas thing.....the child needed them now, whats the point in wrapping them up for a few weeks?)
So anyway we now find ourselves, a couple of weeks from xmas with nothing to show for it. Am I panicking? .......Nah! Not yet....we have actually ordered something for them all to share that I can't tell you about as yet as sometimes they read my blog. So hopefully they like it. As for what to put under the tree...I am stumped for ideas right now. I have not had time to make presents either this year.
We are planning on doing a bit of cooking for friends and relatives and will attempt to do a lot of xmas craft so we are not entirely hopeless as yet (ahem better get off here and get that tree out of the roof, at this rate Santa will probably skip our house!)
Have a great day everyone! Hugs and smoochies xoxoxoxox

Wishful Thinking....
Neither of my boys believe in Santa anymore, so I had to have a bit of a giggle when they compiled some Xmas wish lists the other day.......
Gameboys list (He changed the word Wish to Wishes at the top)
My Christmas Wishes List
My wishes are....
DJ Hero (for playstation3)
YuGiOh cards
Red China Bearings and Yak Wheels (110mm) for my scooter
$10 worth of Rohan Points
Oh May my wishes come True Please..
From A....
Zaks List
YO Santa, Can I please have Yu-Gi-Oh cards and Unchartered2 and NO toys but I want fun stuff and rp's.
(I had actually read Zaks first and had no idea what rp's were! Turns out they are points that you pay for for an internet game!) No thankyou! He also added a picture of a wrapped gift and a card for Santa, very cute.
All I wish for is a nice day to spend with family! I hope all your wishes come true! Hugs and smoochies xoxoxox

I know, I know, more bubbles...
But seriously.....bubbles are really fun! This time.....for something different.....lets eat them! Miko shows us how its done, with a little help from her friends........

Sensai says.....Be one with the bubbles..........
Or, failing that.....just eat them!
Oh Yeah! Bubbles rock!

(Gah! This would have been the best shot using my other camera! She is holding a bubble in her mouth!)
Not to be left out.....the kids have a go!

Woops!
Okay I have not been absent entirely for the reasons of being in a rut lately! I went ahead the other morning and dropped a very hot, very full cup of coffee upon my laptop and myself. Of course my fear of killing the computer far out weighed the fact that my legs were burning and I panicked and turned it straight off and ran for a towel. I learned some very interesting facts in the process.....
a) Coffee does not burn so bad if you are distracted enough!
b) Apple Computers DO NOT cover warranty if you spill coffee on your laptop.
c) Act very quickly and fix it yourself! (Lucky SB is knows his way around a computer, inside and out.)
d) Don't drink coffee near your computer.
e) Karisma and electrical goods don't mesh!
Seriously, my phone also died this week for no apparent reason. Just stopped working and I lost all my friends numbers. I am now using a completely different mobile that I don't like, we just happened to have it sitting in a drawer so Im stuck with it. I have always had Nokia's which are very simple to use and this one is a Samsung and all the keys do different things and just sending a message requires beating around the bush fifty ways to get there. Press the wrong button and you lose your message! Needless to say, Karismas friends must be amazed that she is actually ringing them a bit this week. LOL.
The Nikon is also playing up again, I think I give it too much of a workout and must learn NOT to take it to the beach on windy days.
Anyway, the computer is working again, but the keyboard is feeling a little funny first thing. I am mid trying to plan the day for the kids who want to go ice skating. So catch you later!

Need a holiday....
My mum always used to joke that she must have had some gypsy blood in her as she could never stay for too long in one place without feeling the need to move on. I think I inherited that gene. Lately, I find myself fed up, disinterested in the usual things that keep me sane and wanting basically to go walk-about.
Seriously, I don't feel like doing much of anything. I will pick up a project and try to get motivated but lose interest pretty much straight away. The boys have been a bit the same in their learning endeavors. There has been lots of "I'm bored...I'm bored" and even more "I want....I wants" flying around.
I suppose this is quite normal as we draw to the end of another year. I have long been dreaming of taking off for travel in one of those Winnebago motor homes. Hopefully one day, I will get the chance.
Anyway sitting here is not getting a whole lot done. Hope everyone is having a lovely week.
